In the University, the colors of some waste containers were chosen as in traffic lights: red for plastic waste, yellow for paper and other dry waste, and green for all other types of waste that remained.
In the University, the colors of some waste containers were chosen as in traffic lights: red for plastic waste, yellow for paper and other dry waste, and green for all other types of waste that remained. The waste is transported by a special machine for each type of waste, that is, for each container comes a separate machine. For example, on Monday the content of red conteiner, on Wednesday the yellow and Friday the waste of green conteiner will be removed, and for those responsible for the waste carriers of the same color will come and do their job. State Unitary Enterprise “Makhsustrans” (Special Transport) has started processing organic waste. Work is underway with Green International on this project. For this, a land plot has been allocated near Tashkent. “Makhsustrans” (Special Transport) brings sorted organic waste from markets, restaurants and other facilities. Here the waste is re-sorted, added to straw, leaves or special manure, collected in rows using German technology and dried within 6 weeks. The leaves are regularly mixed on a specially imported combine harvester from Germany. After six weeks, the ideal fertilizer is ready.
These multi-colored waste bins on campus have been installed to maximize waste recycling activities, and special colored bins have been installed for plastic, paper and other types of waste. This, in turn, speeds up the waste sorting process. Most of the recycled waste is spent on landscaping all the green areas and gardens of the university and providing it with natural fertilizers on a regular basis.

Any waste, such as batteries and lightbulbs are also put separately as they cannot be disposed off as the normal trash.
Tashkent State University of Law has signed a number of agreements with “Makhsustrans” in support of this activity. Through this partnership, TSUL continues to intensify its activities in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Green Footprints Initiative
Green footprints painted on the street showed the way to communal garbage bins, because it is not always easy to do the right thing when you are hurrying to discard your garbage or running late for work. As the UNDP team explains: "the footprints work as a visible reminder for people who aren't fully aware of their actions when they litter, and so they end up being a far more effective tool than empty threats or penalties."
Meanwhile, waste collectors were trained to keep the carefully-sorted refuse divided while being gathered and transported to recycling facilities, to ensure the good work done by households was not wasted.
